A Brief Update on Where We Are

This week, we sold the Arlington condo, and moved into a furnished condo in a neighboring area of Charlotte.   We are on a 5-month lease until we depart the US on Saturday, February 21.  For those of you in Charlotte, we are on the boarder of Elizabeth and Eastover neighborhoods, right on Randolph Road.

We have 4 footlockers and 2 Samsonite duffel bags full of items we will take to Ecuador. We also have 4 large suitcases, 2 carry-ons, 2 computer cases, and a cat carrier that will all be making the journey to South America.  What is going to be in all that luggage?  I'll write more on that in a later post!

We have the footlockers and Samsonite bags stacked in the living room (it's a small condo!)  I'm sure we will be adding to and removing items for the next few months.

We have begun the process of applying for our Ecuadorian visas and residency paperwork.  That process involves birth certificates, FBI arrest records, fingerprints, college transcripts, diplomas, on and on.  I'll post more on the visa paperwork later; however, for now, just know that we've hired a facilitator who works both in Ecuador and the US.  We could probably muddle through the process ourselves, but why re-invent the wheel when we're both really busy at work?

My company has narrowed down the search for my replacement.  He and I had dinner this week.   I think he will be a good fit, and I hope he accepts our offer.  All indications are that he will accept.

We already have a fully furnished place in Cuenca.  More on that later, as well!
